No. If you equip another weapon then you cant see your laser and you walk so slow and the big pack is annoying visually.

I wouldn't get it first, go for the beter weapons like bow and upgraded magnum. It sounds cool but i'd save it for last.

Not unless you want to get the trophy for obtaining all weapons. The gatling gun is very slow, quite weak, and has horrible aim. In addition, the weapon will block most of your vision on the screen, so you can't see what's going on in front of you.
